Cara Nickerson M.A.T.
Welcome! I am the owner, caregiver and educator of this program.
I bring over a decade of classroom teaching experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Child Development, a Master’s degree in Teaching, and the lived experience of being a parent.
I am passionate about early childhood education and dedicated to creating a nurturing, responsive environment where children feel safe, seen, and excited to imagine and create.
My goal is to provide a true home away from home, where families are supported, children feel secure, and learning unfolds through connection, play, and joy.
Program
At the heart of Sunny Day Care, is a deep commitment to supporting families, and creating an environment where children love to be!
Together, we build a warm and connected community that values both the individual child and the collective group. By embracing the power of play, connection, and meaningful relationships, children develop the skills they need to thrive—not only in school, but throughout their lives. My goal is to cultivate confident, compassionate, and capable learners who carry the joy of discovery with them wherever they go.
In-Home Pets
Maggie is our delightful 7-year-old Border Collie mutt who brings joy and comfort to our preschool environment! Maggie is healthy, fully vaccinated, in love with people, and exceptionally well-trained. Her presence offers a wonderful opportunity for children to learn about safe and respectful interactions with animals, and enriches our home with laughter and affection.
Maggie will have a quiet place, away from children, where she will happily relax during pickup/ drop off, meal time, transitions, and any other time deemed appropriate. Maggie is very comfortable around children, and safety is always the top priority for everyone. Maggie will only be around children when all interactions can be monitored.
